Two teenagers are in custody and police are looking for a third male after they allegedly fled the scene of a fatal crash in Melbourne.

A 25-year-old Gisborne man died when an allegedly stolen black Audi sedan ran a red light at 1am on Saturday and smashed into his car at the Melton Highway and Kings Road intersection, in Melton.

It's alleged the Audi then hit a motorcycle and came to a stop before its three balaclava-clad occupants ran off.

Two 17-year-olds, from Broadmeadows and Fawkner, have been taken into custody though charges are yet to be laid and police are looking for the third male.

It's been a tragic weekend on Victorian roads, with a 54-year-old Sassafras man also dying after his car collided with a bus in Belgrave.

The man was travelling on the Mt Dandenong-Tourist Road about 5.30pm on Friday when he veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed his car into a bus.

A 29-year-old woman was also injured in a separate hit-and-run incident in East Doncaster about 12.30am on Saturday.

The deaths bring the provisional state road toll to 208, eight more than at the same time last year.
