A timber recycling centre in Victoria has been banned from accepting more combustible timber waste by the environmental watchdog.
Environmental Protection Authority regional manager Carolyn Francis said stockpiles of combustible timber at Geelong's NATJON Pty Ltd could pose a significant challenge for fire crews if they were to catch fire.
Crews battled a large fire spanning four metres high and 25 metres wide at the site, in Staceys Road, Lovely Banks, on March 24.
Ms Francis said EPA takes a zero-tolerance approach to companies who fail to comply with the state's waste management policy and expects the recycling industry to take its obligations seriously.
It comes after numerous recycling plant closures and fires across the state - the latest in a factory in Campbellfield on Friday.
More than 175 firefighters brought the fire under control, but it is yet to be fully extinguished.
Operators of the Campbellfield business had their licence suspended by the EPA in March.
The company had been repeatedly found to be storing excess highly-flammable material.
