Vic wedding canned over gay marriage

A Victorian Presbyterian church minister has refused to marry a couple after the bride-to-be posted a Facebook message in support of same-sex marriage.

A Victorian church has refused to marry a couple over their support for same-sex marriage.

Ballarat-based Ebenezer St John's Presbyterian Church Minister Steve North told the couple he would no longer marry them and that they could not hold their ceremony at the church, over a pro-same-sex marriage Facebook post by the bride-to-be, the Age reports.

Presbyterian Church of Victoria assembly clerk John Wilson told AAP ministers are allowed to decide who they did and did not marry and Ebenezer St John's has been contacted for comment.
