Vic woman's death deemed suspicious

The death of a woman east of Melbourne is being treated as suspicious.

Police say the woman's body was found at a rural property near the Gippsland town of Morwell, about 150 kilometres east of Melbourne.

Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate as the death is believed to be suspicious, a police spokeswoman said.

The woman, in her 40s, was found dead just after 5pm (AEST) on Thursday.
