The stage is set for a bit of Glenn Maxwell magic when Victoria take on Tasmania in the one-day final at Junction Oval.
Maxwell wasn't at his best with the bat or ball in Sunday's upset semi-final win over Western Australia, but was still able to impose himself on the contest in the field.
Victorian skipper Peter Handscomb backed his enigmatic star to have a big say on the outcome of Wednesday's final.
"Maxi got the run-out that really helped us change the game (against WA) and then a couple of great catches as well," Handscomb said.
"He didn't have a great day with the bat or ball, and he knows that, but he always manages to put himself into the game.
"He did that beautifully against WA and no doubt he'll do something special (on Wednesday)."
With persistent rain sweeping Melbourne on Tuesday, the Vics warmed up on Junction Oval before retreating inside to the nets.
Veteran batsman Cameron White appeared hampered in the field on Sunday, but Handscomb declared he is clear of a niggling groin injury.
Victoria will be aiming to lift their first one-day trophy since the 2010-11 season and Handscomb says they will need an improved output from their bowling attack.
"We just need a bit more consistency (with the ball)," he said.
"Throughout the tournament we've bowled in patches really well but I still think we haven't put a full 50 overs together.
"It's our initial contact, our first few overs, where we've struggled a little bit. Oppositions have gotten away from us and then we've had to rein it back in.
"We've done that on most occasions but you can't let the game slide in a final."
