Victoria tops child vaccination rates

Victoria has the highest rate of vaccinated five-year-olds in the country, with 95.7 per cent of children that age fully immunised, new statistics show.

Victoria has the highest rate of fully-immunised five-year-olds in Australia, new vaccination data shows.

According to the Australian Immunisation Register, 95.7 per cent of Victorian five-year-olds are now fully immunised, the highest rate of all Australian states and territories and above the 95 per cent herd immunity target needed to stop the spread of diseases such as measles.

"This data shows that parents are listening to the experts and the science - and ignoring those who tout misinformation that puts kids at risk," Health Minister Jill Hennessy said in a statement.
