Victorian parliament's last week for 2017

Victorian parliament is sitting for its final week in 2017.

After opening a business office in Tel Aviv and demanding in Athens that Britain return the Parthenon Marbles to Greece, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is back in Melbourne for the last sitting week of 2017.

Mr Andrews called for the return of the marbles - a collection of classical sculptures - while visiting the Acropolis as part of his Greece and Israel trip last week.

"The Marbles must be returned to their rightful owners - the Greek nation and its people. I support this, our Government supports this, and our thriving Greek community in Melbourne support this," he said

Victoria's opening of a business office in Tel Aviv also sparked a war of words between the state government and opposition over respecting Israel and the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital.
