A handful of Victoria's Secret Angels have been panned online after singing the word "N***a" backstage at their fashion show.

The annual catwalk parade is one of the most-watched fashion events of the year with an estimated 800 million tuning in annually.

The video appeared on Twitter on Wednesday of a group of models singing along to "Bodak Yellow" by rapper Cardi B.

Some of the models can be seen singing the lyrics: "Hit the store, I can get 'em both, I don't wanna choose, and I'm quick, cut a n***a off, so don't get comfortable".

The YouTube video posted by American fashion model Karlie Kloss shows the same singing but appears to skip the line where the N-word was mentioned.

The footage caused a stir on social media with many people upset the models would use the word in a professional environment.
Following the backlash, Cardi B retweeted a video of the incident to her 1.7 million followers.
