Tiffany Ruan, a 17-year-old high school student from Kansas, was on a trip to Italy with her high school choir when she came across a well in the city of Spoleto.

Ruan couldn't resist the opportunity to test its acoustics with a rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah".

"I looked over and saw my choir teacher with a group of students singing into [the well]," she told her local newspaper The Wichita Eagle

"I thought it was really cool, so I went over to record a video."
Ruan, who also goes by the name Tiffany Day, posted the 48-second video on Twitter, which has since received more than 312,000 likes and been re-tweeted 130,000 times.

The tweet has received more than a thousand comments, with many saying her performance gave them goosebumps or moved them to tears.

She has also been urged to enter a TV singing competition, with some asking if she has been offered a record deal yet.
