A new video purporting to show British photographer John Cantlie, who was taken captive in Syria in November 2012, has emerged online.
In the first footage to emerge of the Briton for more than a year, Cantlie appears gaunt and thin.
The journalist, who has fronted several Islamic State propaganda videos while a hostage, taunts US President Barack Obama's attempts to tackle the group.
The clip, which was posted on Twitter, shows the journalist walking around a bomb-damaged building which he suggests is in the Iraqi city of Mosul.
It is not known when the video was filmed, although it was recorded in daylight and a number of people can be seen walking in the background as traffic passes by.
Wearing a black jacket and black trousers and addressing the camera as if presenting a news report, Cantlie says: "After 20 months and $5 billion, America has successfully destroyed an Islamic State media kiosk.
"If this is what Obama meant when he talked about degrading and ultimately destroying ISIS, he's clearly got a long way to go yet.
"And you know what's really just amazing, given the amount of money that America is spending on this war, that it would go to the effort of destroying a small shack like this, in the middle of Mosul."
Cantlie's skills as a journalist have been exploited by IS to enhance a series of propaganda films titled Lend Me Your Ears.
The last was released in November 2014.
