Video shows Shorten a CFMEU puppet: PM

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has responded to a video showing union leaders talking about their influence within the Labor Party shows.

Malcolm Turnbull has seized on a video showing union leaders boasting about "taking ownership" of the Labor Party, claiming it shows leader Bill Shorten is a puppet of the CFMEU.

The video, published by The Australian, shows CFMEU assistant state secretary for Western Australia Graham Pallot and national president Joe McDonald telling workers about their influence within the ALP.

"This is a party that is utterly in the hands of a few militant trade unions," Mr Turnbull told reporters in remote South Australia, spruiking his government's plan to restore the Australian Building and Construction Commission.
