Vietnam tour boat charges

Charges have been laid against the captain and chief engineer of a Vietnamese tour boat that sank last week, killing 12 people including an Australian.

Authorities in Quang Ninh province say they were arrested on the weekend and charged with violating water traffic safety rules causing serious consequences.

It's a criminal offence that can bring up to several years in prison if convicted.
