Vince Colosimo fined $1000 on drug charge

Underbelly star Vince Colosimo has been fined $1000 for drug possession.

Actor Vince Colosimo has been fined $1000 without conviction for possessing the drug ice.

The Underbelly star, 50, appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday on a single charge of possessing a drug of dependence after he was found with the substance in inner Melbourne last year.

Magistrate Brian Clifford fined Colosimo without conviction and ordered he be on good behaviour for 12 months.

In a police summary read in court, Colosimo was intercepted after stopping his blue Saab in the inner Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy North, about 4.10am on September 26.

Colosimo appeared to hide items at his feet and he and his passenger appeared "visibly nervous" by the police presence.

A police search of the car found a green bag containing a sunglasses case, which had a small bag of ice inside.

Colosimo was arrested and admitted the drugs were his.

His credits include Hollywood blockbuster The Great Gatsby, starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio as well as a major role playing Alphonse Gangitano in TV crime show Underbelly, for which he received a silver Logie nomination in 2009.
