Young midfielder star Jack Viney has won the Melbourne Demons' club best and fairest, beating captain Nathan Jones and All-Australian ruckman Max Gawn in the voting.

Last year's runner-up, Viney polled 407 votes to edge Jones and claim the Keith Bluey Truscott Memorial Trophy by eight on Tuesday night after the pair had been locked on 340 apiece after 19 rounds.

In doing so, Viney denied Jones a record-equalling fourth best and fairest with the Demons.
