Vinnies chief bids for federal politics

Chief executive of the St Vincent De Paul Society Dr John Falzon will seek preselection to run for Labor in the new federal electorate of Canberra.

A Labor hopeful for the new federal electorate of Canberra quotes Karl Marx, disavows neoliberalism and is the chief exec of the St Vincent De Paul Society.

Dr John Falzon has launched a bid for Labor preselection in the Australian Capital Territory electorate, where he faces a contest against ACT Chief Minister adviser Jacob Ingram and greyhound lobbyist Kel Watt.

"I've learned a great deal from the people most affected by exclusion and inequality - the victims of neoliberalism," Dr Falzon told Guardian Australia on Saturday.
