Violent men seeking help in PNG

Papua New Guinea's first domestic violence hotline has received more than 2500 calls since it opened a year ago.

Papua New Guinea's first domestic violence hotline has received more than 2500 calls in a year. (AAP)

Half of the 2500 calls to Papua New Guinea's first domestic violence hotline have been from men seeking help to change their abusive behaviour.

The hotline has just clocked up a year in operation and has delivered more than 1600 counselling sessions, ChildFund, which supports the project, said in a statement.

There were 94 incidents of child abuse reported.
