Western Australia skipper Adam Voges will be aiming to save his Test career when he lines up in the Sheffield Shield clash with Tasmania at the WACA, starting on Thursday.
Voges' Test future hangs in the balance after he failed to fire during the opening two Tests against South Africa.
Should Voges struggle against the Tigers, he is unlikely to be picked for the day-night Test against South Africa in Adelaide, starting on November 24.
Voges won't be the only player aiming to impress national selectors.
Allrounder Mitch Marsh, who was dropped for the second Test, is desperate to win back his spot in the national set-up.
And Warriors opener Cameron Bancroft needs to post a big score to convince selectors they should pick him for a Test debut.
Bancroft almost made his Test debut last year, but he has struggled this Shield season with scores of 20, 17, 22, and 6.
Warriors assistant coach Adam Griffith said Bancroft had probably put too much pressure on himself at the start of the season.
"I think he's got the game and the temperament to (become a Test player). But he needs to make a lot of runs to force his way into the team," Griffith said.
"He needs to peel off a few hundreds to really push his case.
"I definitely think he's a Test cricketer. Whether it's in the next month or two, or in a year or so, we'll wait and see."
Both Tasmania and WA are winless after two rounds.
The Tigers have been bolstered by the return of allrounder James Faulkner from a calf injury.
