Perth Scorchers skipper Adam Voges will miss Saturday's top-of-the-table BBL clash with Adelaide after being penalised for a slow over rate for the second time this season.

The Scorchers were found to be 5.25 minutes behind the scheduled time to complete their 20 overs in the recent loss to Sydney Thunder at Spotless Stadium.

Voges' first offence came in a loss to the Brisbane Heat on January 5, when the Scorchers were six minutes behind.

The two strikes means Voges has been handed a mandatory one-match suspension.

The loss of Voges for the crucial clash with Adelaide Strikers in Alice Springs is a big blow to the Scorchers, who are still without gun opener Shaun Marsh.

Marsh was meant to rejoin the Scorchers' following the conclusion of the Ashes Test series, but a minor leg injury saw him ruled out by Cricket Australia.

Adelaide sit on top of the BBL table with a 5-1 record, while the Scorchers (5-2) are second.
