Volvo tests kangaroo collision technology

Volvo engineers are in Canberra this week testing technology to avoid collisions with kangaroos.

Technology to avoid kangaroo collisions is being tested in Canberra by Volvo in a world first.

A team of safety engineers are in the nation's capital this week to study and film how the animals behave by the roadside.

"Kangaroos are very unpredictable animals and difficult to avoid, but we are confident we can refine our animal detection technology to detect them and avoid collisions on the highway," said the company's senior safety engineer Martin Magnusson.
