Michael Voss says the vacant Gold Coast coaching job is irrelevant to him as he helps prepare Port Adelaide for an AFL finals campaign.

The Power assistant coach and ex-Brisbane head coach says the Suns job hasn't crossed his mind.

"It's even more irrelevant right now," Voss told reporters on Monday.

"We're at the pointy end of the season and all your energy goes into the team you have got.

"We're really pleased with the year we have had, we're not satisfied.

"We still feel like there's a lot of work to be done, a great opportunity in front of us. And that is where all the energy lies."

Port secured a finals spot with a gallant win against the Western Bulldogs last Saturday.

But Voss said a focus had quickly turned to finishing off the home-and-away season with victory against the Suns, led by interim coach Dean Solomon, on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval.

"Solly obviously is pretty tough on making sure they're harder to play against," Voss said of the Suns.

"... we will start to look at that a little bit later, at what they're doing, what they have changed.

"But we would expect some change, that would be only natural with another coach coming in.

"We just want to finish strong. That momentum is really important at this time of year, taking good form in (to finals) is really important."
