The polls are open in South Africa's fifth all-race elections, with up to 25 million people expected to vote.

The ANC is expected to win more than 60 per cent of the popular vote, returning President Jacob Zuma for a second five-year term.

But polls show many disaffected voters are willing to consider other options.

SBS World News reporter is in Johannesburg.

Santilla Chingaipe spoke to him a short time ago, and asked how the vote has gone so far.
