CommSec's latest State of the States Report shows the ACT and Western Australia have the nation's top-performing economies.
CommSec chief economist Craig James says the ACT is benefitting from low unemployment and strong population growth, pushing new home starts 72 per cent above the decade average.
Resources-rich WA has the nation's fastest economic growth. Construction there has been soaring due to the mining boom, 88 per cent above decade averages.
