WA arson squad investigates mosque blaze

Damage from a deliberately set fire at St Mary's Mosque in Nollamara in Western Australia is estimated at $50,000.

Arson squad detectives are investigating a fire at a disused mosque in Perth's northern suburbs.

The deliberately lit fire at St Mary's Mosque in Nollamara was reported to police just after 6pm (WST) on Tuesday.

Items from inside the mosque, which is currently used to store furniture, were found nearby.

At this stage, there's nothing to suggest the fire was racially motivated.

Damage to the property has been estimated at about $50,000.
