WA beach reopens after fatal shark attack

Beaches near where a diver was fatally mauled off the Perth coast will reopen.

Beaches that were closed in the wake of a shark attack that killed a 60-year-old diver off the Perth coast will reopen.

The City of Wanneroo will reopen beaches around Mindarie on Friday, five days after Edith Cowan University lecturer Doreen Ann Collyer was attacked by a suspected great white while diving about 1km off the beach.

The council has urged people to take additional caution in the water in light of Sunday's fatal mauling, which happened just days after 29-year-old surfer Ben Gerring died in hospital after he was attacked near Falcon, south of Perth.
