WA bushfire tourist death confirmed

One of the four people who died during the Esperance bushfires has been confirmed as Norwegian national Anna Winther.

One of the four people who died during the Esperance bushfires has been identified as Norwegian national Anna Winther.

A Curtin University spokeswoman said Ms Winther, believed to be 29, was an international student who graduated from a masters degree of human rights in 2014.

Scaddan farmer Kym "Freddy" Curnow has also been named as among those who perished in the fire that tore through Western Australia's south.

WA police are yet to formally identify any of those who died in the fire, with a spokesman saying the formal identification process could take some time due to the circumstances.
