WA cabbie charged with teen sex assault

A WA taxi driver will front court accused of driving a teenage girl to a secluded spot and sexually assaulting her.

A taxi driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl he picked up while she was walking home in Western Australia's Goldfields region.

Police allege the 17-year-old girl was walking home in the early hours of Sunday when the taxi driver, 37, offered her a lift.

She was then allegedly restrained and driven to a secluded location within Kalgoorlie where she was sexually assaulted, police said.

The taxi driver then drove the girl to a main street in Kalgoorlie and allowed her to get out of the vehicle.

The man has been charged with deprivation of liberty, sexual penetration and indecent assault.

He will appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Monday.
