WA dolphin separated from mum put down

A two-month-old male dolphin that became separated from its mother in West Australian waters has been put down.

A dolphin calf that became stranded in West Australian waters has been euthanised after authorities failed to find its mother.

The two-month-old male dolphin was found in the Mandurah Estuary, south of Perth, on Saturday but would not be able to survive in the wild without its mother.

Murdoch University will use the remains for scientific research.
