WA govt should reveal land sale prices: AG

The WA government is not revealing enough information about land asset sales and should advise the public about prices achieved, the auditor general says.

The WA auditor general says the sale price of state government-owned land assets, which are being divested in a bid to reduce mounting debt, should be made publicly available so informed judgments about the program can be made.

It was the key recommendation of Auditor General Colin Murphy's report released on Wednesday, which concluded the Department of Lands also needed to reveal sale preparation costs.

"Making this information available would increase transparency about government property sales," Mr Murphy said. The department's website only shows the address, property type and sale date.
