WA lead Qld by 155 in Shield at WACA

Western Australia lead by 155 and are 5-165 at stumps on day three of their Sheffield Shield clash with Queensland.

Western Australia lost 5-32 after tea on the third day to hand Queensland the edge in their Sheffield Shield clash at the WACA Ground.

At stumps on Sunday, WA were 5-165 in their second innings with a lead of 155. Ashton Turner was unbeaten on 30 and Josh Inglis 38.

The game ebbed and flowed through the opening three days starting with WA scoring 414 batting first.

Queensland finished day two in a good position at 4-343, but made a horror start to the third day losing Jack Wildermuth (95) and Marnus Labuschagne (92) without adding to their overnight scores.

The Bulls lost 3-0 but a career-high 43 not out from Brendan Doggett helped them to 424 and a 10-run lead.

WA were without left-arm quick Jason Behrendorff due to a back complaint, but Simon Mackin took 3-106, Matt Kelly 2-91 and Andrew Holder 2-74.

The Warriors began their second innings well with openers Will Bosisto and Jon Wells surviving the middle session.

Things turned dramatically after the interval thanks to Bulls legspinner Mitch Swepson.

He picked up Bosisto for 27 to a terrific catch behind square by Wildermuth.

Hilton Cartwright then had no answer for Swepson bowling around the wicket into the footmarks. He was clean bowled for nine.

First innings centurion Mitch Marsh (141) fell in the same manner for 11.

Wells played a poor shot to be caught by Labuschagne off Doggett for 45. D'Arcy Short came and went for one, Swepson's third victim, and WA had lost 5-32 to be 5-99 and 89 ahead.

WA needed batsmen to show some fight and it was Turner and Inglis who answered the call with a 66-run stand to stumps.

Queensland were without spearhead Michael Neser because of a fractured finger. Swepson took 3-77 and Doggett 2-22.
