A man has appeared briefly in a Perth court on 318 child sex offences after police searched his home.

A school traffic warden has appeared in a Perth court charged with more than 300 child sex offences.

Police seized several electronic devices and allegedly found more than 26,000 videos and images of child exploitation and obscene material when they searched the home of 57-year-old Michael Cyril Hyde in April.

Hyde's 318 charges include indecently recording a child, indecently dealing with a child and sexual penetration of a child.

He appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday via video link from Casuarina prison and is due back in court on August 25.
