WA man charged over recording children

A WA man will face court on charges he performed indecent acts in public, and recorded children at a playground.

A man arrested for performing indecent acts in public has also been charged for filming children at a Perth playground.

Police were called on Thursday, after the 58-year-old man was spotted performing an indecent act at a coffee shop in a shopping centre in Armadale.

At a nearby police Station he was charged with two counts of indecent acts in public.

As he was about to be bailed, officers noticed the man was carrying a recording device, and after checking footage found images of children at a play area, and recordings of numerous other people in public places.

He was further charged with another indecent act in public, unlawfully installing an optical surveillance device and possession of a surveillance device for unlawful use.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on Friday.
