WA motorcyclist dies in state race

A motorbike rider has died while competing at the State Road Racing Championships at Wanneroo in Perth.

A 28-year-old rider has been killed while racing at a West Australian motorcycle event on the weekend.

The motorcyclist lost control and left the track, hitting a sand patch before being thrown from his bike and hitting a tyre wall on Saturday.

He was competing at the State Road Racing Championships, at Wanneroo in Perth.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital but could not be revived.
