WA police union accepts govt pay offer

WA Police Union President George Tilbury says officers have reluctantly accepted the state government's pay offer after bitter industrial action.

A bitter and protracted dispute between the WA government and police officers has ended after the Police Union accepted a pay offer it has rejected for the last seven months.

The McGowan government announced in May that it would break an election promise to stick to the previous Liberal National government's 1.5 per cent wage deal and reduce it to a flat $1000, due to the dire position of the state's finances.

The union membership had reluctantly accepted the offer, president George Tilbury said.
