WA restrict Tasmania to 207 in one-day cup

Tasmania have been bowled out for 207 in their domestic one-day cup clash with Western Australia at the WACA.

Unbeaten Western Australia remain on track for their third successive victory to start the domestic one-day cup cricket tournament after bowling out Tasmania for 207 with one ball to spare.

Despite losing pacemen Andrew Tye and Jason Behrendorff to international duties, WA's attack strangled Tasmania on Saturday in a disciplined display at the WACA.

David Moody took 3/47 and Jhye Richardson 2/40, as all six bowlers used picked up wickets to showcase WA's enviable depth.

Tasmania were in serious trouble until a 93-run seventh-wicket partnership between Jordan Silk (80 off 86 balls) and debutant Tom Rogers (38) restored some respectability, before the visitors were bowled out in the last over.

After captain George Bailey won the toss, wickets fell at regular intervals throughout the innings with Tasmania slumping to 6-99 in the 30th over, when all-rounder James Faulkner was caught down the leg side.

Faulkner, who was rushed back into the team after playing in the recent ODI series in India, looked out of touch scoring just five off 42 balls.

Tasmania could not recover from a disastrous start when opener Ben Dunk was dismissed without score in the first over and No.3 Alex Doolan (eight) departed soon after, when chopping on against debutant Matt Kelly.

Bailey looked in good touch during a rearguard effort but was stumped for a near run-a-ball 36.
