Former Test all-rounder Mitch Marsh sparked a Tasmanian collapse as Western Australia claimed the ascendancy in their Sheffield Shield match in Hobart.
The Tigers were bowled out for 197 late on day two and trail by 172 runs after the Warriors reached 0-2 in their second innings at stumps.
Marsh snared 3-21 from 12 overs including the big scalp of in form Matthew Wade and both Tigers' openers when the hosts looked in control.
Marsh broke an 84-run opening stand when he had Alex Doolan edging to first slip for 46.
The 27-year-old removed Jordan Silk (26) two overs later, as the Tigers lost 4-11 in Wednesday's middle session.
Marsh returned after tea to bowl Tigers' skipper Wade for 38.
"It's nice to be back bowling. I'm not sure my body agrees with it," Warriors' captain Marsh said.
"I've had a few little injuries over the last five weeks. It's nice to come back and contribute with a few wickets."
Joel Paris helped roll through the Tigers' tail for figures of 3-33, with Test captain Tim Paine making a stubborn 26.
Having resumed at 7-334 at Bellerive Oval, the Warriors were dismissed for 367 with Jackson Bird taking two scalps to finish with 5-70.
It was the fourth five-wicket haul this season for Bird, who moves to top of the Shield wicket takers with 49 and seemingly keeps himself in the mix for an Ashes spot.
Youngster Josh Philippe top scored for WA on day one with 76, his second half century in as many innings.
The third-placed Tigers and fourth-placed WA are chasing a win to keep their chances of a Shield final berth alive.
With two rounds to play, both must also rely on results going their way to jag a top-two spot.
