WA volunteer admits starting bushfires

A 23-year-old volunteer firefighter has pleaded guilty to starting three fires that threatened homes in WA's southwest.

A volunteer firefighter has pleaded guilty to deliberately lighting three bushfires that damaged property and bushland in Western Australia's southwest.

Stephen Kenneth Johnson, 23, appeared in the Bunbury Magistrates Court and admitted starting the fires that threatened homes around Donnybrook and Irishtown in the state's south west last December.

He will appear in the Bunbury District Court in June.
