Richard Wagner's 15-hour long four opera epic, The Ring Cycle, is famous for its enormous scale, complexity and richly textured plot.
That's why the appearance of a new Australian exhibition, which was inspired by the German composer's famous work, seems incongruous at first glance.
It's a series of tiny 'peep-show' boxes that house intricate lighting and sound installations, using the latest multimedia techniques.
Curator Michael Day says it's a reinterpretation of the music and its themes, aimed at catching the interest of a younger audience.
"The music is full of superheroes. It's got dragons and dwarfs and giants and invisibility" he said.

The exhibition is currently part of Sydney's Vivid Festival and will next travel to Melbourne to coincide with Opera Australia's performance of The Ring Cycle.
In Europe it will become the centrepiece of celebrations marking 200 years since Wagner's birth.
