Wallabies expect action against Franks

An apparent act of foul play by All Blacks prop Owen Franks has been put under the spotlight by Wallabies coach Michael Cheika.

The Wallabies expect match review officials to take action following an apparent act of foul play involving All Blacks prop Owen Franks during the 2nd Bledisloe Cup Test in Wellington.

Franks' fingers appeared to make contact with the eye region of Australian lock Kane Douglas early in the match.

Douglas was reaching across a maul in the seventh minute of the Test, won 29-9 by New Zealand, with veteran tighthead prop Franks trying to stop him.

Franks' hands repeatedly make contact with the face of Douglas in full view of French referee Romain Poite, who took no action.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika was unimpressed by the incident.

"I just saw it at the time. I'm sure the match review will pick it up," he said.

"They couldn't miss it - it was pretty in the open."

Cheika went on to criticise Poite for other elements of his officiating, including an unwillingness to listen to Wallabies captain Stephen Moore during breaks in play.
