Penrith hooker Peter Wallace has been ruled out of Scotland's rugby league World Cup campaign due to injury.
The veteran won't recover in time from the rib and hand injuries he battled through in the NRL finals for the October-November tournament.
"It's disappointing we won't have Peter as he is a class act but we have managed without him for the last three years and done well," coach Steve McCormack.
"We have some very talented hookers and just like when anyone gets injured, an opportunity opens up for someone else."
Former NSW halfback Wallace, who played 19 NRL games this season, missed the Scots' Four Nations campaign last year through injury.
Leigh Centurions player Liam Hood is expected to take the No.9 jersey.
North Queensland grand finalists Lachlan Coote and Kane Linnett are set to be named in the Scottish squad on Tuesday.
