Wallaroos to host Japan in NSW

Australia's women's rugby side will contest a two-Test series with Japan in July, with games in Newcastle and at North Sydney Oval.

The Wallaroos will play Japan later this year in Sydney and Newcastle, swelling their itinerary on home soil to new heights in 2019.

It will be the first time the Australian women's rugby team have hosted Japan in a Test and the first occasion they've played outside of a World Cup.

The team will also host New Zealand in August in Perth, with the three matches on home soil the most played by the side in a calendar year.

The Wallaroos will also play New Zealand in Auckland to complete their calendar year.

"We are committed to providing more high-quality fixtures ... and giving rugby fans, particularly aspiring young girls, more exposure to the stars of our women's game to inspire the next generation," Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle said.

"This series is another step on that journey."

The matches will be played on Saturday July 13 at Newcastle No.2 Sports Ground and on Friday July 19 at North Sydney Oval.
