French surgeon Jacques Beres has returned to Paris from Syria, where he spent weeks working in makeshift "hospitals" treating civilians wounded by sniper bullets and shrapnel.
The co-founder of Doctors Without Borders (or MSF) tells CNN how he operated on nearly a hundred patients with little medical equipment, water and electricity.
he says many people are turning to home surgery out of fear of unnecessary amputations, kidnapping, execution and torture in government hospitals.
He explains why the world needs to act urgently to establish “humanitarian corridors” in Syria.
