On the river bed at 8 Mile Bore, the Federal Court of Australia brought its determination to the Warlpiri People.
Native Title over Mount Doreen had been established.
The determination ended eight years of court proceedings for traditional owners and many more years of community consultation and negotiation
'It's been owned by the pastoralists since the 1930's you know', Otto Sims told NITV
'And getting it back in 2013 is a long, long struggle.'
Many of the original claimants are no longer alive to receive the decision.
Lying 40 kilometres west of Yuendumu in the heart of the Tanami Desert, Mount Doreen was an unlikely setting for the sitting of the Federal Court.
But according to Tradtional Owners it was a good one.
NITV has more.
