A David Warner century has lifted Australia to 5-334, giving them a golden opportunity to restore some pride in the fourth one-day international against India.

While the hosts have already sealed the five-match series, Australia are out to snap an 11-game losing streak away from home in Thursday's dead rubber in Bangalore.

A 231-stand from Warner and Aaron Finch -- the fifth biggest first-wicket partnership in ODIs for Australia -- set a superb foundation after Steve Smith won the toss and chose to bat.

A mini-collapse stunted the momentum of the innings as Warner, Finch and Smith (three) departed in the space of 14 balls with Australia losing 3-5.

Warner's 14th ODI ton came in his 100th match and no Indian bowler was exempt from his punishment as he smashed 16 boundaries, including four sixes.

He was in sparkling touch, looking in complete control in favourable batting conditions.

It took part-timer Kedar Jadhav to remove Warner on 124 (119 balls) after he failed to clear the rope and gave Axar Patel an easy catch at long-on.

Finch looked set for back-to-back centuries until he spooned a catch to mid-on on 94.

Travis Head never got going in his knock of 29 off 38 balls after being elevated ahead of Smith to bat at No. 3.

Peter Handscomb made a handy 43 before he was bowled by Umesh Yadav in the penultimate over while attempting to hit out.

Marcus Stoinis chipped in with a handy 15 from nine balls to round out Australia's innings.

Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers, picking up 4-71 off his 10 overs after he and Mohammed Shami were given an opportunity with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah rested.

The crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium is building ahead of India's chase.

A victory for the hosts will keep alive the possibility of a series whitewash.

Glenn Maxwell was left out of the Australian team, replaced by Matthew Wade who will make his return behind the stumps after being dropped for game three.
