Queensland health authorities are warning people to watch out for measles symptoms after a Brisbane man was confirmed to have contracted the illness.

Metro North Public Health Unit believes the man, in his 40s, was unknowingly infected when he travelled to locations including Brisbane International Airport and the Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital earlier this month.

The man's travels also included a trip to Bali via Sydney Airport and a visit to a seafood restaurant at Scarborough.

The health service is urging anyone who may have been in these locations between March 1 and 6 who develops measles-like symptoms within the next three weeks to stay home and contact their GP for advice.
