Warning of flooding for Vic northeast

Residents in Victoria's northeast have been warned of the possibility of flash flooding on Wednesday night.

The weather bureau has warned people in Victoria's northeast to expect severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding on Wednesday night.

The areas affected are East Gippsland, the North East and West and South Gippsland districts including towns such as Corryong, Bright, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham, Mt Buller and Omeo.

There have been bushfires in those areas in recent days that might lead to debris run-off into waterways and on roads. People are advised to stay indoors and monitor the Bureau of Meteorology website or TV and radio.
