Halfback Shaun Johnson is confident he will be fit to play for the Warriors who host North Queensland in the second match of Saturday's NRL double-header in Auckland.
A groin injury meant the ace playmaker missed the Warriors' 30-6 upset of the Sydney Roosters as the club extended their start to the season to 4-0.
"It's really good, and today was a good test for it," he said on Wednesday after training.
"I got through a bit of a workout there. I was able to do some full contact and attack stuff - yes, sweet."
In Johnson's absence, Mason Lino stepped up to partner Blake Green against the Roosters, the 24-year-old playing an influential role as he tasted victory for the first time in his 10-match first-grade career.
Lino scored a try, landed all seven shots at goal and produced the pinpoint bomb from which winger David Fusitu'a scored.
Johnson had not been surprised by the performance of his understudy, who is back on an expanded bench.
"What's awesome with our squad at the moment is that we all know what's expected of us and Mase slotting in wasn't a shock to anyone," he said.
Green has started the year impressively, Johnson says his new teammate has had a positive effect on not just him, but others as well, including fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
"He's a calming influence," he said.
"He gets the boys to the point and allows the boys to play off the back of it."
Green's presence has freed up Johnson, who has been looking dangerous with ball in hand.
"Our attack has changed this year where Greeny will play on-ball and Roger will have that left side and I'll have that right side," Johnson said.
"Mase coming in last week had the right side. We've done work through the whole pre-season where it doesn't matter who fills in that role - we all know what to do."
Green, 31, who is at his sixth NRL club and has also played in the Super League, has found himself spoken of as a NSW State of Origin contender.
"He gets my vote," Johnson said.
