Warriors secure Varejao as Bogut back up

NBA defending champions Golden State Warriors have reportedly agreed a deal with Brazilian centre Anderson Varejao to join them for the rest of the season

P - Australia's Andrew Bogut is about to get more back up after NBA reigning champions Golden State Warriors reportedly agreed to a deal with Brazilian centre Anderson Varejao.

With starting centre Bogut nursing a strained right Achilles and his regular back up Festus Ezeli out until at least late March with an injured left knee, the league-leading Warriors needed another big man.

And it appears Varejo is the answer and has agreed a yet-to-be-announced deal until the end of the season, according to The AP.

Varejao had spent all 12 seasons of his NBA career with Cleveland before being dealt last week to Portland in a three-team trade that sent Channing Frye from Orlando to the Cavaliers.

The Trail Blazers cut the Brazilian, leaving him able to sign with any team.
