Warriors take revenge on Milwaukee Bucks

Andrew Bogut only made it through five minutes, his back issues again flaring up, as Golden State took revenge on the streak-breaking Milwaukee Bucks.

Golden State have avenged their only loss of the NBA season so far with a 121-112 victory over Milwaukee at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors did it the hard way though as the young Bucks gave them all they could handle for the second time this season, Milwaukee leading from late in the first quarter till midway through the final term.

The Bucks just fell short of a season sweep of the Warriors, whose 24-game season-opening win streak they put an end to with a 108-95 victory last Saturday in Milwaukee.

Golden State came home on the back of a big 10-point final quarter from Steph Curry.

But while the reigning League MVP tallied 26 points for the night, the difference may have been his fellow `Splash Brother' Klay Thompson.

Kept to just 12 points the last time the teams met, Thompson led the scoring for the Warriors with 27 and Draymond Green chipped in 21, while Curry was one assist short of a triple-double, also pulling down 10 rebounds.

Thompson nominated Milwaukee's style of play as a reason they almost beat the Warriors but was proud of the way his teammates responded.

"They played at a great pace, had great shot selection, Giannis (Antetokounmpo) was killing us on the block and thank God we made the right adjustment in the fourth quarter," he said.

"They played a near perfect game and threw us off a little bit and we responded well. I'm proud of my guys."

It wasn't all good news for the Warriors though with Australian centre Andrew Bogut lasting just five minutes before being taken up the tunnel with back spasms.

It was the same problem he encountered against the Brooklyn Nets a fortnight ago but this time he couldn't overcome it.

Golden State interim coach Luke Walton said he didn't want to risk making the issue any worse.

"I guess he was a little sore warming up and he felt it when he came out after that second foul. He said `it is hurting'," Walton said.

"When we were getting killed on the glass I went up to him at halftime to see if he could go again and by that time he had been out of the game so long we decided it was better not to."

The spasms began while Bogut was training with the Boomers over the off season and he is on the record as saying he simply has to manage the condition.

"It's more annoying than anything," he said earlier in the season.

"The issue is: If you push it, (the pain) comes back at 100 per cent and you're back at square one."

Elsewhere, Detroit continued to show they are a threat in the Eastern Conference, getting home 147-144 in a remarkable quadruple overtime win over the Chicago.

A 43 point-game from Bulls guard Jimmy Butler wasn't enough to get them across the line as the Pistons' Andre Drummond dominated the paint in a Herculean 55-minutes that saw the league rebounds leader score 33 points and pull down 21 rebounds, without usual back-up Aron Baynes.

The Aussie centre was ruled out before the start of the game, like Bogut, with back spasms.

Butler was so very nearly the hero for the Bulls. He cut Detroit's lead by making an off-balance three-pointer to cut it to 145-144 with 4.7 seconds left.

The Bulls immediately fouled Reggie Jackson, who made both free throws. Butler then missed a three as time expired, ending the Bulls' four-game winning streak.
