Telstra executive Warwick Bray will take over from Andrew Penn as the company's new chief financial officer.

Telstra has promoted executive team member Warwick Bray to be its new chief financial officer.

Mr Bray, 53, who is group managing director of Telstra's products division, will replace Andrew Penn, who takes over from David Thodey as chief executive on May 1.

He joined Telstra in 2009 as head of corporate strategy before being appointed head of mobiles the following year.
