Sorin Radu, who works as a mountain rescue volunteer and snow sports instructor, was making his way down Papusa Mountain on a blue-sky day when large cracks appear in the snowpack beneath him.
The snowboarder slows to a near-halt and appears to be searching for a safe exit before becoming engulfed in an avalanche.
He is knocked off his feet and tumbles several metres.
Despite the ordeal, Radu was not injured by the fall.
